UMP Success Story
IMS Education was first implemented in the Universiti Malaysia Pahang in October 2002. With the offerings of world-class competency-based technical courses utilizing the teaching and training concept, UMP aims to develop the human resources and technology relevant to the needs of the manufacturing, chemical, petrochemical and natural resources industries.

Challenges
UMP sought for an integrated financial system that would allow university spending to be planned and tracked. As employment grew and Human Resources & Payroll functions became increasingly more complex; the need to automate these processes also became more acute. KUKTEM also needed an information system that would allow a comprehensive overview of all university functions so as to enable long term planning for continued growth.
With the increase in student enrolment, a student information system was needed to help manage student registration and course distribution efficiently. To further enhance its campus services, KUKTEM also required that information distribution facilities such as communication and collaboration system, electronic content management, information distribution system and management be provided to the relevant institutional communities.
Solution
UMP selected IKCM and its IMS Education suite of applications through a joint development program to implement the overall integrated system, making KUKTEM the nation's first university to adopt a purely integrated campus and knowledge management system solution.
The solution is a combination of IMS Education suite of applications, consultancy and system integration services to address concerns regarding access and security, integration of the library system and smart card management, as well as identifying management's needs and areas of improvements.
Result
Since the implementation of the integrated IMS Education solution, KUKTEM has dramatically simplified its daily operations, streamlined its business processes and reduced its administration costs. In addition, the various online communities of the campus now have a single-point access and authentication to university resources and information.
With IMS Education, comprehensive and customized reports can be created using a single common database, which allows data to be easily exchanged online.
